GISB vs NAESB

While the Gas Industry Standards Board (GISB) established in 1994 was named North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) in 2002. The standard versions GISB 1.4 and NAESB 1.6 are not the same. The versions require different data elements in the message headers. The encryption starting with 1.6 supports PGP 2.6.2 compliant products and OpenPGP. Be aware that some companies are advertising that they have “GISB now NAESB” in place. Unless a product has been certified with NAESB it cannot be guaranteed that the product is complaint.
