Export A File

Click on the Export a File button to send the transaction file you have received on to your company's internal software system for processing. Export a File moves incoming files from an active trading partner, which have been successfully translated, to a host application.

Export a File links Qualedi and your host application.  It executes the commands in the QEXPORT.BAT file, moving translated (Read) EDI documents from the PC to the host application.

*** Please note that the user, not Qualedi, writes this file ***

It is not necessary to execute Export a File if the export of the incoming file is initiated by the host application.  However, the count of the number of documents to be exported will continue to increase on the Main screen.

In a Front-end system, incoming documents are translated during Read EDI Mail, converted to a particular record format, and exported to the host application program. The documents are appended to the QEXPORT file.

When there is a "P" (Production Data) in field 15 (test/production indicator field) in the ISA header, the incoming documents are written to a file called QEXPORT.  If there is a "T" (Test Data) in field 15, in the ISA header, the incoming documents are written to a file named QEXPORT.TST.  This allows the control of test data and prevents it from unintentionally becoming combined with production data.

The use of the Export a File (and Export a Test File) command in Front-end systems implies there is a mapping/conversion program between Qualedi and a host application.  Please refer to the "Host Interface" section for an explanation of mapping and Qualedi QIMPORT/QEXPORT record formats.
